You know You Shouldn't be Driving When…

We have watched this video several times and still cannot find a reasonable excuse for why the driver of the Lada Niva crashed into a stopped car on the opposite side of the road.

Even if the pedestrians crossing the road surprised the driver, we can't see why she (according to the YouTube poster) didn't stop her vehicle before it hit the Mazda3.

Head past the break to watch the incident as it was recorded from a dashboard mounted camera.

Mazda Rolls Out New Supercharged MX-5 Yusho Prototype with 237hp at Leipzig Show [39 Photos]

The new MX-5 Senshu Edition wasn't the only Miata to debut at Mazda's stand at the 2012 Auto Mobil International Show (AMI) in Leipzig, Germany, on Friday.

Mazda surprised show-goers with a far more intriguing proposal in the form of the MX-5 Yusho prototype, named after the Japanese word for "Victory".

The matte white paint together with the 17-inch anthracite gray alloy wheels wrapped around in semi-slick Toyo Proxes R888 tires size 215/45 R17, lowered suspension, boot lid spoiler and the carbon-fiber rear diffuser housing the centrally mounted twin tailpipes tell only part of the story.

The real magic occurs under the bonnet with the heavily fettled 2.0-liter MZR four cylinder petrol engine gaining a supercharger system, an intercooler, special Cosworth pistons and connecting rods, a custom exhaust system and reprogrammed software.

Close Call for Motorcyclist that Almost gets Sandwiched Between Two Vehicles

A motorcyclist found himself in a very tight and dangerous spot when he foolishly tried to pass between a Mazda3 sedan and a large truck.

In the process, the biker knocked down the car's passenger mirror and instead of pulling over to apologize, he took off without looking back. The Mazda3 driver caught up him in a move that was probably unnecessary and equally foolish. Go figure….

Mazda Ute Rolls Over During Drift Attempt, Continues Like Nothing Happened

Turning a facepalm-worthy drift fail that entailed a rollover into an epic win is no mean feat, even more so if said stunt was performed in an old Mazda pickup truck.

The short clip was filmed in Clock Hill in Alexandra, New Zealand and was originally part of a DVD called "Asses of Alex 2" featuring people performing various stunts and pranks (think Kiwi-flavored Jackass), which was distributed in the country back in 2008

Official: New Alfa Romeo Spider to be Based on the Next Mazda MX-5!

In a surprise announcement that is bound to excite Alfa Romeo fans, the Fiat Group and Mazda revealed today that they have signed a non-binding Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the development and production of a new roadster model for the Mazda and Alfa Romeo brands based on the rear-wheel drive architecture of the next MX-5.

"The study calls for both Fiat and Mazda to develop two differentiated, distinctly styled, iconic and brand-specific light weight, roadsters featuring rear-wheel drive," the two automakers said in a joint statement, adding that each car will be powered "by specific proprietary engines unique to each brand".

According to the plan, the next Mazda MX-5 and Alfa Romeo's successor to the Spider will be manufactured at Mazda’s Hiroshima plant in Japan, with production for the Italian model to begin in 2015.

With the exception of the limited production 8C Competizione Spider (2008-2010) and the RZ (1992-1994), the last time Alfa Romeo had a roadster with a front-engine, rear-wheel drive layout was the classic Spider built from 1966 to 1993. This particular model was featured in the 1967 movie The Graduate with Dustin Hoffman.

Toyota President Lists his Favorite Cars Made by Domestic Rivals

Toyota President Akio Toyoda is not one your typical automotive CEOs, as believe it or not, the 56-year old grandson of the Japanese company's founder actually likes cars [...]. He is a full-time car guy and a weekend racer who has even competed in the Nürburgring 24 hour endurance race.

And like any other car buff, Toyoda's list of favorite cars is not restricted to one brand. However, unlike other automotive executives, Toyoda has no problem revealing which cars he likes from Toyota's domestic competitors in public.

Video of the Day: "Idiot Drives the Nürburgring F1 Track"

There is nothing better than some self-deprecating humor to lighten things up and turn a bad situation into a shared laugh.

We will start by telling you that the title of this post comes from the person who uploaded the video on YouTube not to make fun of someone else but of himself while driving his Mazda RX-8 on a rainy day at the Nürburgring F1 track.

"Most of the time I sit in my car declaring how rubbish everybody else is," wrote YouTube user Nurburgdale. "This time I was the arsehole, the dangerous twit who didn't even realise how bad he was until he checked the memory card of the vbox... rather than hit ctrl-delete, I thought I'd upload it to others. Hey, if you can't laugh, you'll only cry!"

Mazda to Discard V6 Engine, Plans to Develop Skyactive Rotary Engines

When premium carmakers such as BMW and Audi put so much focus on their four-cylinder powerplants, it's only reasonable that mainstream brands like Mazda do the same.

Currently, the Japanese carmakers offers a larger V6 engine on its Mazda6 sedan and CX-9 crossover, but that won't be the case with their successors. Speaking to Car & Driver magazine, Robert Davis, Mazda’s senior vice president of U.S. Operations, told the publication that it has no plans to develop a next generation V6 under it SkyActive program.
