Spy Shots: New BMW 4-Series Convertible Lets its Metallic Top Down

For the second time in a month, our crafty scoop photographers were able to capture BMW testing the open-top replacement for the 3-Series Convertible, which as you probably have already heard, may be named the 4-Series if –and that's a big if- the rumors turn out to be true.

What makes these latest pictures of particular interest is that we see the 4/3 Series Convertible with its electrically operated, three-piece metallic top neatly tucked away in the trunk.

Furthermore, our scoopsters were able to get close enough to the camouflaged prototype to snap a few photos of the interior that will be shared with the coupe model. Not surprisingly, even if BMW does change the name of the two-door models, the dashboard will be identical to that of the latest F30 3-Series sedan.

8-Year Old Boy Plays in Mom's New BMW, Ends Up Crashing a House

Parents should always be aware of the fact that boys will be boys, meaning one should avoid leaving an 8-year old kid alone in a car with the keys on the ignition because he just might want to try out the view from the driver's seat, which is what happened today in a neighborhood in Boston.

The unnamed 8-year old boy from Dorchester was left unsupervised in his mom's new BMW 328i sedan, which was parked on a driveway on Mascot Street.

The youngster was waiting for his mother to drive him to school but apparently, he felt the need to hop into the front seat, turn on the engine, place the car in gear and stomp on the gas pedal.

Spied: Next BMW 3-Series Coupe Snagged in Italy

Evidently, BMW was over in Italy this past week to try out the replacement for its 3-Series Coupe, also known with its internal codename F32. An Italian reader of Autoblog.it stumbled upon a camouflaged prototype while it was filling up at a gas station in the town of Arzachena in Sardinia.

The video is not clear enough to see which variant of the F32 this is, but the large alloy wheels point to a top model in terms of performance.

Scoop: BMW Shows us How the Next Generation of the 3-Series Convertible's Hard Top Works

With spring upon us and the temperatures slowly rising in the northern hemisphere, BMW's engineers have no problem opening the top of the next 3-Series Convertible, which like the coupe, you may or may not be forced to call the 4-Series.

Luckily for us, one of our spies was in the right place at the right time to snag more than a dozen photos of BMW's testers opening and closing the electrically operated, three-piece hardtop, which neatly tucks away in the trunk at the touch of a button.

BMW 3-Series Driver is a Careless Asshat…

Nobody is perfect and we all make mistakes on the road at one time or another, but if anything else, when you do mess up and especially if your actions endanger the well-being of another driver or motorcyclist, it's only fitting that, if possible, you at least stop to apologize and see if everything's okay.

Apparently, being polite was too much to ask for a 'King of the Road' in an E46 BMW 3-Series saloon who cut off a motorcyclist near the city of Palo Alto, in California.

Even though the biker was forced to hop over the pavement to avoid the crash, the BMW owner continued as if nothing ever happened!

Three of a Kind: BMW Classic Returns with a New Short Film About the 3-Series

Bimmer Stories is back with a new short film entitled “Three of a kind” that celebrates its world premiere at this week's Techno Classica 2012 show in Essen, Germany.

The film adopts a similar style to last year's “A perfect match”, which followed the story of a man and his search for an appropriate replacement for his scruffy BMW 1602.

This time, however, the film revolves around the first three generations of the BMW 3-Series. The two-door E21 is owned by Zach Galifianakis lookalike dressed in 1970s gaucherie, while the E30 convertible is driven by a stereotypical yuppie holding an oversized mobile phone and the E36 coupe by a cool and relaxed female driver.

SCOOP: New BMW 3- or 4-Series Hardtop Convertible Nabbed Playing in the Cold

The convertible edition of the BMW 3-Series may be the least popular body style in the range, but it's one that is widely considering to be leader in its segment while also returning higher profits per unit compared to the regular models.

And whereas most manufacturers prefer to offer either a coupe and a soft top cabriolet or a single hardtop convertible model, with the presentation of the fifth generation 3-Series Convertible in 2006, BMW decided to do both.
