Things I never paid attention to with the California DMV car registration renewal form

It doesn't make sense that California has a registration fee, which is the form, and the reason they send it, and what you expect to pay to keep your car registered... though why cars must be registered is absurd to me. What, does the government need to know that you have a car? Do they need to know what cars, how many, how old, and the serial number of them? No idea what that information can do for the public good.

So anyway, what is the different license fee? Are we being charged to display that license? Why aren't we being paid to advertise the state we live in on a envelope sized aluminum tag on the back of our car?

About 40% of all tickets written in San Diego are in just 4 locations, and 2 are basically College student areas

11% near SDSU at College Avenue between El Cajon Boulevard and Montezuma Road

5% in Pacific Beach, Garnet Avenue between Ingraham Street and Balboa Avenue

another of the top 5 most ticketed is also in Pacific Beach, coming down Mt Soledad rd to Balboa

So, are cops targetting young speeders? Seems like it. But keep in mind what I posted http://justacarguy.blogspot.com/2008/01/speed-limit-enforcement.html about cops giving speeding tickets, they prefer to ticket in the 2nd or higher price bracket... not in the 5 to 15 mph over, but over 15 mph over the posted speed limit when fines really get expensive... because a million people driving the same way 5 miles over the limit as they do at the limit, versus a few people driving way over the limit who will get fined enormously for driving near or over the limit of their braking and avoidance ability is another way to see the issue, but keep reading to see that it really is all about the money.

So reading on the article, you find that the first one I wrote about, the 11% of all tickets in San Diego, the most of any place in San Diego, are at the bottom of the hills on either side of a speed limit drop zone of 600 feet (for nothing different in the road condition, no schools) because it's a senior citizen residential block where the speed drops from 35 to 25 (again... at the bottom of two hills when you've got gravity speeding you up), and to quote the reporter "Nearly all the tickets were issued in the senior zone when drivers exceeded 40 miles per hour, causing fines to increase by $125 or more."  confirming what I said about the 15 and over ticketing method causing fines to increase by $125 or more.
Using today’s fine amounts, the drivers ticketed on the College Avenue stretch during the year reviewed were fined more than $600,000. If all of the drivers paid those fines — and some do not — the city’s take would be more than $109,000 with the rest going to the county or the state.

Here is where you can see its all about the money... putting in a stop light will cost about a half million, writing tickets will earn about 20% more than that, about $600,000

In the College Avenue zone (the one I've been talking about), 39 accidents occurred and cops handed out 1,678 tickets between July 2005 and June 2010,

Other areas of the city had more accidents — and fewer speeding tickets.

Three people died in 104 accidents on University Avenue between Park Boulevard and Utah Street in North Park. Officers issued five speeding tickets.

Blue Link from Hyundai has a annoying irritating message that shows up on my radio everytime I turn on my Veloster... anyone know how to get rid of it? Hyundai Customer Service doesn't

I hate this stupid damn message.. and I don't want the damn Blue Link. I'm not going to buy, subscribe, or want it. When you press OK the message will go away. I think it's not right to impose on your car buyer to push damn buttons to make the radio information appear instead of the damn Blue Link message

If you do like the message says and press the blue link button, hey, guess what? The car uses your cell phone to call Blue Link, and you hear a recording that you need to go to a computer and register. Eff you Blue Link. My car manufacturer insists that I use a computer to satisfy them? Fuck that. I paid them for a car, and that completes our transactions. They want my time to go to a computer to get rid of a message they put in my car radio display? Thay can pay me for the time, or enjoy the bad publicity until their customer "Service" tells me what they can do to make this damn message go away

K "articulatley" comments about the comparison of the SN 95 to the Tempo, Taurus, Escort, and T-bird

Funny you claim to be a car guy and that you like muscle cars and mustangs yet you dont know what a new edge mustang is and you cant discern between the 1994-1998 mustang and the 1999-2004 mustang??

I for one, don't care if I'm off a couple years when it comes to guessing what year a car is that has been produced in the past 15 years... give or take a year is close enough when guessing the year of an uninteresting vehicle that will soon be scrapped once it's past it's warranty and gets sent to the junkyard when the last owner realizes it is junk that the factories aren't making replacement parts for. You haven't looked, but 3700 posts about every other make and model that interests me, from the moment they took the horse away from the wagon, is praised for its' design, features, manufacturing or whatever struck me as cool about it.

Sand rails, stage coaches, trains, electric buggies, tool wars, airplanes, monster trucks, front end loaders, top fuelers, sports cars, 10 speeds, musclecars, Holdens/Commodores/Monaros, 3 wheeled post WW2 econo cars, concept cars and motorcycles.... and a lot of other stuff just as diverse is all over this website. No it didn't. The change from the 1964-69 to the 1970-72 was a change. The 76 vs a 67 is a change, the 76 vs an 89 is a change. etc etc. The 99 to 00 wasn't a change of any significance to the look of the Mustang.

of the mustang, all the rounded lines became hard lines, the headlights became one piece, the body got bigger and performance numbers increased. I understand it was even more of a drastic change when the 2005 came out as it was a bold retro style and made a huge impression.

Well, again, you started off with a correct fact... it's like every other squared off box on wheels of it's era... every Mopar B body, C-body, and lots of FoMoCo and GM cars in the late 60's were indistinguishable to the common person not interested in cars.
