New Volkswagen Polo R WRC Street with 217-Horses to Enter Production in 2013


Volkswagen surprised its fans at this week's Wörthersee festival in Austria with the presentation of the new Polo R WRC Street concept car.

What makes this study special - aside from the fact that it promises to be faster than the Golf GTI, is that the German company confirmed that it previews a production model due for launch in late 2013.

As you have probably already guessed by know, the Polo R WRC Street is inspired by the company's entry in the World Rally Championship starting from 2013.

Whereas the racing Polo R WRC sports a 1.6-liter TSI engine with 295hp (300PS), the road-going prototype makes use of the VW Group's tried and tested 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine rated at 217-horsepower (220PS), or 10-horsepower more than the Golf GTI.

Volkswagen UK Adds Standard Digital Radios Across the Range


Volkswagen is preparing for UK’s switch to digital radio by fitting DAB (Digital Audio Broadcasting) radios as standard on all 2013-model year cars from the Polo to the Phaeton.

As one would expect, all of the brand's new DAB audio systems will still be able to pick up conventional FM or AM analogue radio signals, as well as play audio CDs (including MP3 files).

New Volkswagen CrossPolo Urban White Special Edition is Only for Germany


Volkswagen is expanding its CrossPolo offerings in Germany with the introduction of a new special edition model named "Ubran White" that features bespoke content.

The new edition of the crossover version of the Polo combines a white paint for the body with a matte black finish for the protective moldings and gloss black for the mirror housings and roof rails.

Volkswagen to Develop Two Crossover Models Based on the Polo and the Up!, Says Report


Two more crossover models could soon join the ranks of the compact Tiguan and the mid-size Touareg in Volkswagen's lineup, according to a report from German business publication, Handelsblatt.

Citing unnamed company sources, the newspaper wrote that a subcompact crossover built on the underpinnings of the Polo, which would potentially go up against the Nissan Juke and Opel Mokka, as well as an even smaller model based on the Up! city car, are "certain".

Volkswagen Adds R-Line Editions to UK Market Polo Hatchback


Volkswagen is bringing some sportiness to its Polo hatchback with the introduction of a new R-Line model in the UK that is available for order now with first deliveries expected in July.

The R-Line is based on the specification of the Polo Match and is available in Britain in both three- and five-door body styles but only one engine, the 1.2-litre 105 PS TSI petrol unit linked to a six-speed manual gearbox.

Superchips Gives Volkswagen Polo GTI an Electronic Boost


European owners of the Volkswagen Polo GTI looking for a relatively inexpensive solution to improve the performance of their cars will be interested to know that Superchips has released a new ECU tune for the German hatchback.

The Polo GTI is powered by a direct injection 1.4-liter gasoline four-pot featuring both a supercharger, which boosts the engine until 3,000prm, and a turbocharger that kicks in afterwards, for a maximum output of 180PS (177.53bhp) and peak torque of 250Nm (185 lb-ft).
