Scoop: 2013 Maserati Quattroporte Filmed at Fiorano, Does it Sound Like its Powered by a Turbo Engine?

Evidently, Maserati has its engineers all over the place testing the soon-to-be revealed, next generation Quattroporte sedan up ahead of its sales launch in the first quarter of 2013.

After our spy shooters captured the luxury saloon lapping the Nürburgring, another prototype of the 2013 Quattroporte was spotted testing at Ferrari's private track in Italy, the same place we saw an allegedly turbocharged California roadster.

Spied: New Maserati Quattroporte Shots Reveal that it Won’t be a...Hunchback

Maserati engineers have toned down a notch the camouflage on their latest Quattroporte prototype that was nabbed by our scoop photographers while undergoing tests at the Nürburgring race track.

It may not seem like a lot, but it's enough to provide us with a better look at the rear window styling, which in previous spy shots, was disguised to give the impression of a fastback body style.

The new photos confirm the more conventional styling of the car's roofline and rear end.

This new Quattroporte will be the Fiat and Chrysler Alliance's flagship sedan model and as such, will sport the latest technologies including a new 8-speed automatic transmission from ZF combined with a start and stop system to will help reduce fuel consumption and CO2 emissions.

Ferrari Filmed Testing What Sounds Like a Turbocharged California

A prototype of the Ferrari California hardtop roadster has been captured on film testing at the automaker's private circuit in Italy.

What makes this video of particular importance is not the lightly camouflaged car itself, but the sounds produced from its front-mounted engine, as it appears to be sporting a turbocharged powerplant.

CDC Performance Redoes the Maserati Quattroporte from Top to Bottom

The German tuners at CDC International have launched a new sub brand called CDC Performance, the first product of which is based on the Maserati Quattroporte with a comprehensive styling and performance package.

Even though CDC Performance makes no mention of it in its press release, as pointed out by the team over at GT Spirit, the exterior body kit is likely sourced from Japanese tuning firm Wald International (see photos below).

To Valet, or Not to Valet... it's not a question. Don't. Here is one example, if you didn't get it when you watched Ferris Bueller's Day Off

The approximately $400,000 pileup reportedly happened when a valet drove a Maserati into -- and under -- a Jeep Grand Cherokee, which crashed into a Mini Cooper and a vintage Porsche 356.

The Epic Hotel in downtown Miami witnessed an epic crash involving expensive cars on Friday night. Onlookers revealed a Maserati Gran Turismo spiraled out of control and crashed into a number of cars.

I think before I hand over the keys to my car, I'm going to make sure the valets are bonded, licensed, and insured by some company that is fast with paying off damage claims.

police found the valet driving the Maserati ‘was coming down a parking garage ramp too fast, lost control, and drove his luxury sports car right under the SUV’

Maserati Smashes Into a Porsche 356, a Jeep Grand Cherokee and a Mini Cooper Countryman in Miami

In one way, the Epic Hotel in Downtown Miami justified its name on Friday night when the driver of a Maserati GranTurismo crashed into a host of cars including a latest generation Jeep Grand Cherokee, a Mini Cooper Countryman and a classic Porsche 356 speedster – though we don't know if the latter is original or one of the many replicas.

There are many conflicting reports about the incident circulating around the web, including that the Maserati driver was a valet and not the owner, but nothing that we can confirm.

Maserati to Build Alfa Romeo 4C at its Modena Plant, will Introduce Three new Models

It's that time of year that the Fiat Group reveals its plans for the near future and on Thursday, the Italian automaker announced that Maserati will expand its product offering and significantly increase volumes over the next two years with the presentation of three new models in three different market segments.

The Italian company did not provide additional information, but we already know that the three new Maserati models planned for production are the Kubang luxury SUV that was previewed in showcar trim at the 2011 Frankfurt motor show, a mid-size sports sedan to compete with the BMW 6-Series Gran Coupe and Mercedes CLS, and the next generation of the large Quattroporte sedan.

Scoop: Next Maserati Quattroporte hits the Nürburgring Racetrack

The last time we spotted a prototype of the 2013 Maserati Quattroporte, it was playing around on the ice in the northern part of Sweden, but now that the weather is clearing up, the Italians are trying out their flagship sedan at the Nürburgring.

And while the trick camouflage remains, this time our spy shooters were able to grab better photos of the test mule.

We still can't say for sure which parts of the prototype will pass on to the production model, but it does appear that the sixth generation of the Quattroporte will sport a more elongated roof, albeit not as far as dramatic as the test mule suggests.

Inside, the Fiat Group's top saloon model will provide more space for the rear passengers as the car will ride on a slightly larger platform than the current Quattroporte, which is 5,097mm long, 1,895 mm wide, and 1,438mm tall with a 3,064mm wheelbase.

Maserati and Bulgari Team Up to Create Upmarket Octo Timepiece

If you were ever to associate cars with watches, the Toyota Camry's equivalent timepiece would be something in the likes of a Casio or Seiko: an affordable product that does the job day in, day out. Likewise, a Maserati would be like a Bulgari.

So it doesn't come to much of a surprise that Maserati and Bulgari joined forces or as the two companies put it, “to share their ideals” that are “admirably epitomized” in the Octo Maserati timepiece.

This is what Happens when you Leave a Maserati Gran Turismo's Door Open Near a Bus

If it’s going to happen, it's going to happen. During the filming of a Polish television show named "Zakup Kontrolowany", reporter Adam Kornacki changed places with local actress Malgorzata Socha behind the steering wheel of a Maserati Gran Turismo.

Even though the man was careful not to hit the door on the bus that was standing beside the car, he didn't figure that the truck driver would take off at an angle slamming the Maserati's door.

Watch how it happened in the video after the jump.

Spy Shots: New Maserati Quattroporte Looks Like it well get an A7-esque Roofline

Up until now, Maserati had done a pretty a good job hiding its Quattroporte prototypes from the prying eyes of our scoop photographers, but they finally nabbed it while undergoing winter testing on an ice track used by the Fiat Group in Sweden.

The current model is the fifth generation Quattroporte and it has been in the market for a quite long time – since 2004, to be precise. Despite its sporty and elegant looks that have stood the test of time, the Italian luxury sedan is showing its age in various areas.

Maserati Plans to Increase Sales Almost Tenfold by 2015, New Quattroporte Coming in 2013

Fiat-Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne has already revealed his medium-to-long-term plans about Maserati: the Italian luxury carmaker will soon have three new models in its dealerships and will increase its annual volume substantially.

Perhaps “exponentially” would be a more appropriate term. Last week, on the sidelines of the Geneva Motor Show, Maserati CEO Harald Wester told Automotive News that the sales target set for 2014 is 40,000 units, rising to between 55,000 and 60,000 a year later.

That’s almost ten times the brand's worldwide deliveries of 6,159 units last year – a number which the company expects will be almost the same this year.

Geneva Motor Show Debut for the New Maserati GranTurismo and GranCabrio Sport Models

Those looking for a sporty four-seat grand tourer made in Italy but don’t want to or can’t stretch their budget to a Ferrari FF would certainly consider the Maserati GranTurismo.

Sure, the two models are not in the same league, but on the other hand, the Maser costs a fraction of the Ferrari's price and boasts equally fabulous looks as well as a Maranello-sourced V8 under its sculpted hood.

At the 82nd Geneva Motor Show, Maserati unveiled the latest version of the GranTurismo as well as its open top sibling, the GranCabrio with the Sport moniker. The Sport models replace the S variants and the changes are more than skin deep.

For starters, the 4.7-liter V8 engine now produces 453HP and 520Nm (383.5 lb-ft) of torque, up from the 440HP and 490Nm (361.4 lb-ft) of the GranTurismo S.

Power is still channeled to the rear wheels and buyers can choose between a “robotised manual”, i.e. semi-automatic, or a conventional manual gearbox.
