The oldest car collection in the US... the Larz Anderson museum in Brookline Mass

The collection has the following
1899 Winton
1900 Rochet-Schneider
1901 Winton Bullet
1903 Gardner-Serpollet
1905 Electromobile
1906 CGV
1907 FIAT
Powerful and bold, the Andersons’ 1907 Fiat was the supercar of its time.  Even the motto of the automobile, No Hill Can Stop Me, reflected its strength, for many automobiles at this time had difficulty going up hills.  This 11-liter, 6-cylinder Fiat boasted a strength of 65 horsepower; only 86 were manufactured.  Bought by the Andersons while they were on vacation in Europe, the car was then shipped to New York to be re-bodied by the Hol-Tan Company.
1908 Bailey Electric
1910 Panhard et Levasor
1912 Renault
1915 Packard Twin Six
1924 Renault Torpedo
1925 Luxor Taxi
1926 Lincoln
and small sidenote, the museum collection (in a 1888 carriage house) was voted as one of the Top 10 Boston Museums for a wedding

This year, the Pebble Beach Concours has invited the Larz Anderson museum to bring the 1907 Fiat, and it needs a couple of tires. http://larzanderson.org/1907fiat/

You'll understand that car museums in Massachusetts are off the beaten path of tourists, and door donations might be a bit down lately... but the car is IMPRESSIVE! It has been a feature of the collection that has been open to the public for viewing.... get this, since 1927. The Museum was founded in 1949, and might be the oldest car museum in America that is still open.

It just needs a couple of dollars to get tires.

The 1907 Fiat was last was operated in 1919, and the workshop of  "The Old Motor" David is getting it ready to be shipped to Pebble Beach, read about that at http://theoldmotor.com/?p=50392 .

David is one of the few who are expert at brass era and classics, and is buying one tire, handling all the work of fixing the rims, handling the lubrication (etc etc etc) but is not set to sponsor more than the one tire as they are about $500 apiece.

Follow this link directly to the Larz Anderson website were you can donateby credit card or mail. If you donate by mail enclose a note that it is for the 1907 Fiat. The cost for the transportation out and back has already been taken care of by a donation and The Old Motor has also donated all of its time and facilities to help them out.  Please remember that any amount you can help with will count and add up.
The rear tires were close to impossible to get off the without harming the rims. We could have cut them off, but chose instead to save them as they are part of the history of the car. Both rear tires being 8-ply truck tires, have a side walls that are over 1/2″ thick and being 80-90 years old are dried out and very inflexible. It was a long and very hard job to get them off intact, without bending or harming the rims, but with some patience it was eventually accomplished. Very soon it will be on all four new tires and tubes and we will show you more of this fine cars features in photos.
In the mean time, please contribute to the Larz Anderson Auto Museum if you can, as they count totally on donations to carry on their educational mission. In the future The Old Motor is going to continue to support them and we are working with them to help start a Preservation Fund, which can be used for the other needs of the core Anderson Collection of Automobiles in the future.
I'd love to be there when they fire up the motor for the first time in 93 years.

Lincoln MKF Concept Could Make a Compelling Rival Against the Mercedes CLS

It’s no secret that Lincoln has been struggling on many different levels over the past years - if not decades, with one of the more persisting problems being that the Blue Oval's sole luxury standard bearer has persistently failed to deliver in the design department.

The Ford group's answer to this problem was the appointment of former Cadillac exterior design Max Wolff as the head of Lincoln's design team last year and the creation of a new 40,000-square-foot dedicated studio in Dearborn, with the new MKZ being the first example of Lincoln's styling revitalization.

Moreover, Lincoln is also looking for young and emerging talents from colleges and universities by sponsoring projects. One of the more recent Lincoln backed concepts that caught our attention is the MKF from Brian Malczewski, an automotive design student at the College for Creative Studies in Detroit.

A livery service Lincoln Town Car that was used as a taxi smashed into a luxury car shop in the Mid-City area of Los Angeles on Wednesday morning leaving one person injured and causing damages to the building and at least two supercars, a Ferrari F430 Spider and a rare TVR Tuscan S.

According to authorities, the driver of the Lincoln taxi pulled out an injured female passenger from the rear seat and left her near the Specialty Car Craft shop in the 1800 block of South La Cienega Boulevard before he fled the scene on foot. Lincoln Selectively Goes Back into the Future for New 2013 MKS Commercial

A new Lincoln commercial for the redesigned 2013 MKS sedan takes us for a very quick spin through the luxury brand's history.

The spot starts from 1922 when the Ford Motor Company purchased Lincoln after it was forced into bankruptcy and stops in the mid-1970s, skipping almost three decades of history (wonder why…) before it showcases the new MKS.

You can watch the 30-second ad in the video after the break.

2013 Lincoln MKZ's New Split Grille won't be Used as a Template for Future Models, Says J Mays

The 2013 Lincoln MKZ sedan that received its world premiere at the New York Auto Show earlier this month, debuted a new and more contemporary design language for the Ford Group's luxury brand.

Among other key styling elements that stand out on the mid-size model is the sleeker interpretation of Lincoln's split grille that replaces the baleen-whale vertical bars with chrome horizontal slats that are supposed to evoke an eagle's spread wings.

One would think that, like other premium carmakers, Lincoln would apply the same grille treatment to all of its next generation or redesigned models, but according to Ford Group's top designer, J Mays, that won't be the case.

"We haven't made an announcement that every single car within the lineup is going to have the same grille bars," Mays told Automotive News. "We needed with the MKZ to signal a new generation of Lincolns. That's the first of the new cars to come with what I would call a more innovative face on it."

2013 Lincoln MKZ Revealed in Production Trim, gets 2.0 Turbo and 3.7-liter V6 [Photos + VIdeos]

Once again, Ford is attempting to kick start its troubled Lincoln brand, this time with the presentation of the all-new 2013 MKZ sedan that will go on sale in North America in the fall following its world premiere at the New York International Auto Show later this week.

Lincoln promises that the 2013 MKZ is much more than a glorified Ford Fusion, despite the fact that the two cars share the same platform architecture, a similar engine lineup and various systems.

To differentiate the two models and help the MKZ compete against established models in the executive mid-size segment like the BMW 3-Series and the Audi A4, Lincoln will offer its sedan model with a V6 engine as well (the Fusion is available only with four-cylinder engines) and exclusive technologies.

These include a standard Continuously Controlled Damping (CCD) adjustable suspension with three modes (Sport/Normal/Comfort), an optional 15.2-square-foot panoramic roof that slides back and a Push Button automatic transmission.

The MKZ is the brand's first model to be created by a dedicated team at its new Lincoln Design Studio under the supervision of Max Wolff, who was hired from Cadillac.

2013 Lincoln MKZ Sedan Pictures Leaked from the Other Side of the Atlantic

So much for the Ford group's attempts to tease the production version of the 2013 Lincoln MKZ before its world premiere at the New York International Auto Show as the usual suspect from Eastern Europe has spoiled the Detroit maker's plans by letting loose a trio of official images.

The production model doesn't seem to have changed much from the concept MKZ we saw at the 2012 Detroit Motor Show in January, as the only visible differences we spotted in these pictures are the bigger headlamps, the door handles, the larger exterior mirrors and of course, the smaller alloy wheels.

Lincoln Previews Production Version of 2013 MKZ Sedan by Showing us its Mega Panoramic Roof

In a few days' time, we'll know exactly how much the Lincoln MKZ gained or lost in the transition from concept car to production model as the Ford group will lift the veils off its new premium mid-size model at the 2012 New York International Auto Show next Wednesday.

One feature of the car that Lincoln is willing to share with us before its grand premiere is the 2013 MKZ's huge glass roof that measures 15.2 square feet or 1.41 square meters, which if not the largest, is one of the largest of its kind in a production sedan.

Lincoln made a station wagon? Wow, that is a big ugly beast

This wagon started life as a fully-loaded Mercury Colony Park, then received Lincoln Continental badging, opera windows, a vinyl roof treatment, some gaudy chrome pieces, the signature faux spare tire-humped rump skillfully crafted into the wagon's tailgate

Dietrich found a 1926 Lincoln in South Africa, and shared the photo and story with us!

Hi
I used to own more old cars and I own a Butchery in the main street of Humansdorp.
I often drive my cars to work and park them infront of the shop.
This draws the attention of people passing by and they introduce themselves to me.
This is how I got to know one of the car friends. He used to come and show me all the cars as his brother bought it for him before he took it to a nearby farm.
When he passed away his brother came along and invited me to the farm to come and see what else he has.
This is when he showed me the Lincoln.

I have since entered into negotiations to buy the car from him as he has no interest in cars himself.
I do have trouble finding info on the car. All I have is the engine number.
I was told it was a 1926 but from cowl lights and some other pic info it looks to be earlier?
If anyone can shed more light on the model, please let us know in the comments!

the annual "Best Show On Turf" car show of the San Diego Auto Museum is now at Liberty Station... the city upped the rent on the Balboa Park turf to way over budget

above and below are interesting owner added bits I haven't seen before

The steering wheel is from a Lincoln, the engine from a T-Bird, and the turn signal stalk on the left side is the shifter from fwd to reverse

Very nice owners, they are the 3rd owners and this boat spent it's previous life in Lake Tahoe

I don't think I've ever seen a wind wing on the back windows of any car... til this Hudson Hornet.
