At the end of World War I, it was obvious that aircraft would have a dominant role in future wars to come. The problem of transporting the craft in numbers to battlefields faster and cheaply was investigated fully with various concepts. One proposal for the early USAF was Herbert H. Hunt's proposed creation of an air mobile brigade composed of specially prepared motorcycles with sidecars to transport the aircraft in component form straight to any local conflict.
At the time Herbert was serving a sentence for the misappropriation of public funds and property and waited with his proposal in hopes it would gain him profitable wartime contracts and perhaps even a reduced sentence...it was never meant to be.Via: Moto Clássica
